I have long been a fan of WoW, and, since launch, have gone through well over fifty different characters. With the latest addition to the series comes a the frozen realm of Northrend, where you can see plate and mail-armoured heroes alike get their tongues stuck to their face guards when they try and speak. In all seriousness though, the new look and feel of Northrend is suitably epic, and the storyline quests have kept their usual flair.

Other quests have been rehashed upon, but for every rehash you have two completely new quests that either give you a good twenty minutes of fun, or a good two hours worth of frustration. The new vehicle engine has been a long time in the works, and is surprisingly solid, if a little confusing at first.

As far as the new class goes, the Death Knights were obviously something Blizzard was so set on seeing happen that they failed to do proper play testing with them. In fact, over the seven or so patches to the game since release, Death Knights have been boosted and nerfed in equal parts. Now, as far as other classes are concerned, Blizzard has again either butchered them, made them much to powerful or weak, or left them be for the most part. I won’t go into details, but suffice it to say anyone playing as a retribution paladin is in for an easy time, and anyone playing an enhancement shaman is in for a great disappointment.

My main gripe here, though, is the fact that instead of focusing on getting players ready for endgame content and leaving some measure of skill to be acquired there, Blizzard has turned Endgame into Sesame Street: Lich King Edition. It seems that instead of fostering an atmosphere where actual ability and skill is appreciated, it is now perfectly acceptable for a person to roll his face on his keyboard and still be a “valuable addition to the raid.”

I hate to say it, but Blizzard has catered and sold out to the whining masses of pre-pubescent boys and girls who can’t be bothered to learn how to raid. I have a firm suspicion that good ol’ President Bush is hiding in the development team’s office, because this is going to turn out just like the ‘No Child Left Behind’ program.

But hey, it only turns out like that in the expansion bit. If you like an easy game, play through. If you don’t like trying to deal with all the drama 11-15 year old children bring to the table, play through with friends.

The Wrat of the Lich King: Collector’s Edition is a must have for every dedicated player out there. Do not hesitate to buy it. And don’t forget that the in-game pet (Frosty) will be next to you in every character you make within your WoW account. Just incredible ! The soundtrack is awesome and the “behind the scenes” DVD as well. Well done Blizzard !!!

with amazon’s credit card sign up deal i only ended up paying $[...] for this, and it was worth it. Hundreds of hours of game play.

I completely enjoy what blizzard has done with the wrath of the Lich king. The look and feel of the game is excellently done , the new class is a lot of fun , and the new zones are a blast. The updates to the game are always adding and tweaking but the core of this expansion has remained true. They have added an entire continent of ground to cover and have more than ample storyline to carry you through each area and on to the next as you level your characters in Northrend. The collectors edition is a worthwhile purchase as you get a taste of the card game, the sound track, a mouse pad and map(please dont taste the map). And in my opinion the best part is the included artbook.
I play very casually and while it has almost been a year since release I still have fun in the expansion as do my friends that play easily 5 times more than I do. I still find quests that have surprising or just plain fun endings and run into npc characters that poke fun at movies and games that most people will know.

Everything had came in the box like it was stated. Though the only problem is that the CD in the box was not the original Soundtrack it was a copy.

I had went to put the tracks on my computer and it had songs from a band call “Akwid”.

So for those who are wanting to buy this item, be warned it has been tampered with.

this is a great product for all those of you out there that like to get that little more out of games this limited edition comes with a bunch of goodies that will have you entretained for a while plus the actual game with an inside reward as a pet. It also brings and artbook that shows all the process of the concept making of the game with bonus beautiful images, a dvd that despicts the making of the games expansion plus a few trailers, a mause pad with a map of the game’s new region, a cd of the original soundtrak with all of the games music and for last but not least, 2 starting decks of the World of Warcraft TCG with 2 aditional unique cards that come only on this bundle. I really recomend getting this if you enjoy that little extra of a new game but if not, if you only want to get the actual game there are always other options of getting it.

You know I told myself I’de never play this game. I guess losing alot of friends from other MMORPG’s gave me bad feelings towards Warcraft. But after playing it for a while now it’s the most fun I’ve had since the original Everquest. I honestly couldn’t be happier. I just hope the Old Republic is as good when it comes out!

  10. Carver says

I purchased the game off of Amazon not too long ago and I must say its excellent. There’s plenty of stuff to do and tons of people to play with. But be careful, you will most likely get addicted to this game. Also, World of Warcraft can be pretty complicated. I recommend reading up on guides for it by visiting sites such as http://www.hiddenstuff.com/ for strategies, tips, and such. But overall, this is THE BEST game I have played yet. A+
