I love this band. But Annabella Lwin in her mid 30’s doesn’t have the power and youthful vibrancy that she did in her mid teens. You can hear her struggle to recreate that vibe, without complete success. Also they’ve lost their original guitarist, Matt Ashman, who’d contributed significantly to their sound.
This album sounds like a fun live-show, and it’s also very raw – unlike their highly produced studio albums. But the recording quality isn’t great either – it all sounds muffled. They were imitating their younger-selves here. So if you’re a big fan it might be worthwhile, but don’t pay a premium for it.

How To Repair The PS3 Yellow Light Of Death
This record conjures up fond memories and at the same time is proof-positive that Bow Wow Wow was way before its time. I just love “Where’s My Snake” and “Chihuahua” which were hard to find in the 80’s (at least for me), and it is nice to have a compilation like this that presents the true essence of this original, fun band. Great, great fun!!
…and not a “rip off” thereof. Adam “Ant” left the band…the band (Adam and the Ants) and their manager found a new singer, and a new direction, in Myant Myant Aye…er, Anabella Lwin.
Just wanted to clear that “rip off/stolen” thing up…and add that I listen to this record often…C30,C60,C90 Go!…relevant for our times, even tho a lot of people don’t know what a C30/60/90 even is anymore
Bow Wow Wow is not a Household Name, They Charted Once in the USA with “I want Candy” (Top 50), and released only 3 Proper Albums…Their Sound is Tribal, the Lead Singer Annabella often Yelps to Percussive Drumming and throbbing Bass, The Mixture yields Many Great Tunes, but it can take getting used to, as it did for Me, I was not a Fan untill much listening…If You don’t know a lot of the Group’s Songs, I suggest listening to as many 30 second Samples as possible to get a feeling of whether this stuff is digestible…Most of the Songs here are first-rate, I particularly Love “TV Savage”, “Golly Golly Go Buddy!” and “Louis Qatorze”, along with Annabella’s Solo Turn “Fever”….If You want to explore further, I suggest the CD “Girl Bites Dog: Your Compact Disc Pet” to round out Your Collection, it includes more Gems, such as “Sexy Effiel Tower” (Where 14 Year-Old Annabella Pants Orgasmically…and more authentically than Donna Summer)and “Radio G String”, as well as 3 Cuts from this CD in different versions; But begin here, and don’t go further unless You Adore this CD….
If you’re a fan of Bow Wow Wow, this is one you will want to have…
Bow Wow Wow have some great tunes, but my favorites are all on the IMPORT The Best of Bow Wow Wow, not this domestic version. The import has the original versions, which I prefer. The tracks on the domestic CD are overproduced and play like “extended disco versions”.
If you like Face Off then you will LOVE.. Smoke Sessions by Devin the Dude. This is one of the best of 2008.
I bought this from my daughter’s wish list. It arrived timely and in condition stated. She has not complained about it so I’m sure she is enjoying it.
i am a fan of both of these guys, but not a huge fan! when i bought this cd i was pleasantly surprised how much i liked it! they make a good team!
Omarion was the lead singer for the boy band B2K. Bow Wow was the hazel-eyed young protégé of producer Jermaine Dupri. They team up for the first time on a compilation entitled “Face Off.” The album is very enjoyable. Their lyrics indicate that they are no longer the teenaged fellers we were introduced to several years ago. Relationships with women, sleeping with women, sleeping with women already in relationships and being cocky are among this album’s subject matter. Also, these men verbalize their fair share of obscenities and sexual innuendos. Bow Wow outshines Omarion on most of the songs because his delivery is great. Bow has an undeniable energy in his vocal performances. Omarion holds his own, but I don’t expect too much from him vocally because he has never amazed me with his vocals.
Most of the tunes found on this album are up-beat with decent production and lyrics that are good, but are probably more appealing to a younger audience. The album opens with a very energetic number called “Face Off.” This is one of those numbers that amps you for a workout or a long day. Both guys do a great job with their performance and the end result is that this is one of the best tracks on this album. “Girlfriend” was released to radio, and though it took me awhile to get into this song, I now enjoy it. The beat is great and so is their delivery. “Hoodstar” and “Listen” also have good production. “Listen” interpolated strings with a hip-hop beat, which was different, but certainly a fresh idea. Bow Wow administers nice lyrics on this one. He’s a very able lyricist, although his subject matter is way too narrow. There is more to talk/rap about that women, cars, and prestige. “Take Off Your Clothes” is a very raunchy track. It isn’t difficult to imply what this song is about based on its title. The lyrics will make your jaw drop, but the beat will make your head bop.
I was impressed after the last song went off. These guys did a nice job with this LP. I recommend this one to young women and fans of Bow Wow/Omarion. For those folks, I’m pretty sure it won’t disappoint.
Mikeisha’s Top 5
1. “Face Off”
2. “Girlfriend”
3. “Listen”
4. “Hoodstar”
5. “Number Ones”
crap man pure crap bow wow the weakest rapper on earth makes a whole cd with closet fag omarion really who come up with these ideas to put these 2 lame freaks together.
It’s bad, as it is, when a band mixes, remixes, re-remixes, slices and dices 15 year old material.
I count this as the third album containing basically the same songs (girl bites dog) and (the best of BWW). Would have been nice to hear some “from the archives” stuff, or even (gasp) some NEW stuff.
My very first impression was basically outrage. Listening to the first cut of “Do you wanna hold me” (track 4) reminds one of a Disco Roller Derby. It’s as if someone gave the producer a copy of “Rebirth” or other such synth capability and said “come on old chap make it FUNKAY.” The second version later in the CD is better (no bogus studio effects).
After you clear track 7, it gets better (the live version of “Sexy Eiffel Tower” is especially of note).
I wasn’t to cool with the fact that three different mixes of “I want candy” were included. I’ve always hated that song, now it’s three times a loser.
OK, so maybe it isn’t a One Star wonder. I’ll upgrade it to 2, but only on the merits of its nostalgic value, not of its breakthrough new mix.
To buy or not to buy? I say wait for it to hit the “Clearance and fire sale” rack or similar special page here at AMZN. At 3.99 it’s a steal. At $12.99 it’s like hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, it’s probably better to refrain.
ok, so i admit that i probably like this album because i was actually at one of the concerts that was recorded. (sometimes i can even imagine i hear myself yelling anabella’s name…) but in re-listening to it, i hear energy, enthusiasm, and lively sense of fun. the band doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously, but they do realize that they have fans who are there for the music. anabella lwin sounds great which is impressive given that most of her original vocals were recorded when she was in her teens. the play list is a bit of a rehash of previous albums – but that’s a given considered the limited amount of material the band put out in the first place. and in honesty, i’m not listening to bow wow wow ‘cuz of their new material.
Do yourself a favor and skip right over the first six tracks: they’re mindless remixes that crap all over these classic tunes by destroying the very rhythm that’s central to their charm. Luckily, the other 14 tracks are decent live recordings that Bow Wow Wow fans will probably want to have in their collection. The sound quality isn’t perfect, but it’s better than on many live recordings you might find at a similar price. And, though most of the tracks add little to the original studio versions, they are at least competent.
