   Bought this for my 9 and a half year old grandson. He’s right, it is enormous! Just taking it from the box is misleading. You have to play it to realize the magnitude of what you get. Dedicate a day to play the game for the first time, at least eight hours. This game is for all ages. The “older” boys (25-42) were just as avid about the game, and they seemed to enjoy it even more than the younger ones. As another reviewer suggested, bag and/or box the various parts as you play or when unpacking the game. There really are over 1000 pieces. This is a well planned game and I highly recommend it to any WOW afficiondo. They will be thrilled with this game.

   I haven’t played too much of the World of Warcraft PC game but I’ve been a fan of both Warcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 so I decided to pick this game up. And I must say I was impressed by the quality and complexity of the game.
   Much to the style of an online RPG game, there are classes to choose from and two factions players can belong to and they all come straight from the PC game. The objective of the game is to defeat the chosen boss creature within the 30 turns, or fifteen rounds, of the game. If players can’t defeat the boss within that time period, then the two factions, the Alliance players and the Horde players, enter into an all out battle for supremacy. The game is composed of various actions the players can do during their turns. Players must complete quests to level up their characters and thus gain more powerful equipment, spells, skills, and items. All the equipment, skills, spells, and items are represented by cards and these cards grant bonus and determine the number and kind of dice rolled in combat. There are also quest cards and event cards. Quest cards represent the quests players must complete while event cards change the flow of the game after a certain number of turns. All quests in the main game of World of Warcraft: the Board Game, is composed of killing off monsters. Once those quests are completed rewards and experience are given to the players. Other actions players can choose to do is go to town, travel, rest, train, and engage in combat.
   Setup for this game can take a while if there are fewer players but can speed up significantly if there is a large group setting up the game simultaneously. The game takes a long time to play and the rule book is big, approximately 40 pages long so patience is required to learn the rules of the game. An average game can last anywhere around 4 to 5 hours. I’d recommend this game to hardcore board game fans and to fans of WoW. If you fall into those two categories then this is a must! But if you haven’t played WoW but like complex board games then you’ll definitely like this game.

   The game itself is nearly unplayable, with a set-up time exceeding Axis and Allies and a fun factor that’s a mere fraction of it. However, I didn’t buy this game ($35 on clearance) to play it, but instead for its parts: about 120 plastic miniatures (pair well with those from HeroQuest, though a little smaller) scaled for use with 1-inch squares/hexes and a variety of punch-out markers. There’s a lot of plastic in these miniatures too: 4x 3-inch high demons, 4x 2-inch high golems, 4x 2-inch high dragons, 6x ogres, 6x owlbears, plus gnolls, two kinds of water creatures, two types of undead and some half-man, half-wolf creatures too. The player miniatures are pretty good too – only knock here is that two of these have visible muskets.

   I am an avid Warcraft fan, I play Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. I also read the books, and all the fan fiction I can find. This was the logical next step for me. If you have 2-5 friends that you want to spend the day playing a really fun and deep game with some fairly omplicated game mechanics involved then this is for you.

   Quality of the board and artwork are top notch, the player pieces and monster models are fair quality, but not great. The colors of take me out of the experience but not enough to take away the fun.

   This game has A LOT of pieces, and you will use every single one of them.
   1st play through was 6 hours with full group, the next few after that were around 5 hours.

   I am ready to start playing with expansions, so I will be looking at the Burning Crusade expansion first.

   Fans of old classics like Talisman should enjoy this game. You don’t have to play the online game to understand the basics of the game, though the names for talents/items/etc come straight from the online portion. A four person game takes about 6 hours to play unless you all know the rules. My group found the game to be a good replacement for a nightly RPG session when you are missing people or don’t have enough time to prepare a decent RPG.

   Love to play WOW, thought I would try collecting figures for the game. This is the first one I ordered, and was very pleased with the material it was made of, the detail on the figure and the overall size. I already put a bunch more on my wish list.

   I’ll admit I felt like a WoW geek when I picked this up. This item, however, is quite simply a work of art in my opinion. The expression and the posture are intense and the detail is very noticeable. From an art standpoint, I have no criticisms.

   Now, on to the production of the item itself. The unit does not have any points of articulation save the wrist joints thereby allowing you to position the shield and the sword to your liking. The arrows are separately packaged and you need to stick them in the slots provided on the shield and the leg. The arrow that goes on the thigh comes with a flimsy arrowhead unlike the ones that are meant for the shield (which are just shafts without a pointy head). The arrowhead snapped right away as I tried to push it in the unit’s leg. This was immensely frustrating. I did manage to fit the remaining shaft of the arrow in the leg but isn’t as sturdy as the ones on the shield. Why they couldn’t provide the same kind of fitting mechanism for the leg I may never know.

   The arrows aside, the unit has a couple of minor issues. There is a small gap between the head and the torso. It doesn’t bother me much, largely because its not noticeable due to the posture of the unit, but it may be annoying for some. Also, the unit doesn’t rest flat on its feet. The weight distribution tips it backwards slightly. My friends occasionally grab the figure to check it out and when they put it back, they typically rest it on its heels and the bottom hem of the cloak (like a tripod).

   Having said all that, I still love this piece. I used to play WoW and Warriors were my favorite class. I don’t have time for WoW anymore but this action figure reminds me of good times and epic raids with my friends.

   Of course, a highly detailed figure like this is meant more to stir the imagination than to survive rough play (especially given the arrows one has to stick in, one of which regrettably lost its arrowhead when it tried to fit unsuccessfully in its assigned hole). That said, the figure certainly stirs the imagination (its details are a cartoonist’s dream, or nightmare depending on your point of view), and if you leave the arrows out, it seems remarkably durable. No joints articulate save the wrist joints, but that’s all one needs to make this dramatically posed warrior nuanced in his berserker menace.

   Unlike the cursed stance issue present with so many of these figures, the paladin seems to have made the cut. Thusfar he’s one of only a few that I haven’t had to prop to keep standing while displayed.

   All the pieces are excellently detailed, and the paladin here is no different. A good buy all around.

    very good looking detail toy. if your a warcraft fan or person that like eye candy then this item for you. the is my first toys of this series. His armor is amazingly design and His color is fine. ( no paint over in the wrong place) the only thing that i don’t like is that there no action to this figure. can’t move any of his arm or parts. so other then that it is will money spent.

    This toy is exactly what it seems – the sheild and sword are the same as some of the guards wandering around in Silvermoon City. Overall quality is good, with a large amount of detail, either in red or gold. The material is very durable.

    I bought the starter set to have the figures. I recommend starting out this game with the deluxe edition. If you’re not sure if you’re interested, the starter set should work fine.
