This book provides examples of how to do certain special effects.

It was definitely more of a “tips and tricks” book than it was a learning resource. Just follow the steps, and go “WOW” just like the title.

It doesn’t really explain in detail how the trick was done and why you’re doing a certain step. Most photoshop gurus will just scoff at this book, and most newbies will walk away amazed, but no smarter about photoshop than before they read it.

The latter portions of the book was nothing more than a summary of the different photoshop filters found in commercial filter packages. I question why thoese filters were even in the book; it seemed like advertising that does not benefit the readers.

This book was more than incredible, being a professional designer I envy the creators of this book. With a simple and easy to follow layout, the book describes amazing techniques which will astonish anyone. It effectively describes every aspect of photoshop and how to use it. Even for beginners, this book is a smash hit! It features images by people from intustrial light and magic (Made Star Wars) and it has great details on rotoscoping quicktime movies! If all else fails, there is a CD included that contains over 50 actions, filter demos, and images, A definite MUST BUY!

I bought this book on it’s graphics alone, and I was rewarded by my choice. The only reason that I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the tutorials could be a little less confusing. As well as a couple of mistakes that I had to write in the book to remind myself of. Other than that, the price of the book is almost worth it just to get the cd. The actions included are unstoppable. Plus the tutorials, which as I previously stated could be a little clearer, compliment the actions on the disk. Giving you the step-by-step to mimic them(actions). Plus you can amaze and astound your friends with the techniques learned from this book. I definitely recommend it.

For Print or web use this book has some nifty tricks to apply to your work, I found it easy to follow but I can see where newbies or (ahem!) people without a manual could get lost quick.

If you are looking to add something special to your portfolio but dont have any ideas this book might be the one for you!

This book helps you to unlock the secrets of the pros. Photoshop is my favorate design tool and this book is a must companion for any serious user. It is written in plain english and beautifully illustrated throughout

The Photoshop Wow series has always been one of my favorites. This particular book is no exception. Part of this books great appeal is the fact that Adobe has created a piece of software that is so similiar in both Windows and MacOS platforms that this book, even though intended for Windows, works great for both computing platforms.

The book is full of step by step tips on how to create all the latest stunning craphics seen in todays art shows, web sites, design magazines, etc…

[A quick note: I currently use Photoshop 4 on both my Mac and PC, and the book's techniques are still applicable!]

A particular favorite feel of the book is the author’s encouragment to the user to leap beyond the tips and create and expand their skills on their own.

The only drawback I found in the book was the lack of more material. True no one book could possibly cover the scope of Adobe’s brilliant, award-winning software, but this edition has covered only the more popular effects while leaving the more mundane, yet arguably more important tasks (such as fixing bad scans, color corrections, printing) short-changed.

Overall a must have book for the (forgetful) professional (like myself), and a great book for the beginner who wishes to add that cutting edge feel to their art.

This book is a MUST-HAVE!!! I’va had it for over a yyear, and I take it with me everywhere!!! In fact I’ll by another one for the shelf…. It has great techniques, stunning artwork and explains it all sooooo well… I owe most of what I know about Photoshop to this book! I am waiting for the 4.0 version and looking for the 2 version!!! Do yourself a favor… BUY THIS BOOK!!! it is worth sooo much!!!

A facinating look at several advanced techniques in photoshop, and a re-examination of commonly used ones. Topics include; channel masking, carving, beveling, photo-retouching, plus a bank of images to spark inventivness…

Overall, it reads like stereo instructions, with a step-by-step description for each of the many lessons. ***

If you don’t have this book and you leave this site without buying it, you are the toughest sell in history. The techniques and projects in this book are so well written, that anybody with a little experience in Photoshop can start producing super-professional images in a matter of days. Absolutley AMAZING!
